HOYT WIRE SCREEN MEDIA

Better Screening Starts with the Right Screen Media

For more than 50 years, Hoyt Wire Cloth has manufactured shaped wire, woven wire and self-cleaning screens for demanding applications, including crushed stone, sand and gravel, concrete recycling, asphalt and RAP, coal, landscaping and mulch.

Building on the principles established by founder Alexander D. Lumsden, Hoyt continues to develop screen media designed to handle difficult material, increase screening efficiency and stand up to tough operating conditions.

Screen media performance

GET MORE OUT OF YOUR SCREENING PLANT

Screen media is not one-size-fits-all.

Material type, moisture, feed rate, deck load and the finished product you are trying to make all affect how a screen performs. Using the wrong wire diameter, opening or screen design can limit production, create excessive recirculating loads and lead to premature wear.

Nor’East Equipment works with customers to evaluate the complete application before recommending a screen. Whether you are replacing an existing panel or trying to correct a performance problem, our goal is to help you select the right media for the job.

Shaped wire

HOYT HI-RISE™ SHAPED WIRE

More Open Area. Greater Strength. Better Material Flow.

Hoyt Hi-Rise uses shaped wire instead of conventional round wire. Its taller profile provides additional wearing surface, while the flat sides allow more material to pass through the screen instead of bouncing over the opening.

Compared with equivalent round wire, Hoyt reports that Hi-Rise shaped wire can provide:

  • An average of 15% more open area
  • Up to 55% greater strength and load-carrying capacity
  • Faster stratification of fine material
  • Increased screening efficiency
  • Longer-lasting sizing accuracy
  • Additional wear life from the taller wire profile

For operations trying to increase production without replacing or enlarging the screening plant, Hi-Rise may provide an opportunity to move more correctly sized material through the existing deck.

Self-cleaning

HOYT SERPA™ SELF-CLEANING SCREEN MEDIA

Spend Less Time Fighting Plugged Screens

Wet, sticky or difficult material can quickly blind or plug conventional square-opening screens. Hoyt Serpa is designed to keep the individual wires moving so trapped material is released before it restricts the deck.

Serpa screen media can help:

  • Reduce plugging and blinding
  • Improve the separation of fine material
  • Increase open screening area
  • Maintain material flow through difficult applications
  • Reduce cleaning interruptions and downtime

The Serpa product family includes different wire arrangements for varying deck loads, material conditions and wear requirements. Options such as Serpa XLT combine self-cleaning action with shaped wire for applications that require greater strength, open area and wear life.

HOYT SCREEN MEDIA OPTIONS

Nor’East Equipment can help you select from a wide range of Hoyt products, including:

SQUARE WOVEN WIRE

A proven choice for accurate sizing in general aggregate and screening applications.

HI-RISE™ SHAPED WIRE

Designed to increase open area, strength, material stratification and wear life.

SMOOTHTOP

Manufactured with a flat wearing surface and the wire knuckles positioned beneath the panel to promote smoother material flow and longer wear.

SERPA™, SERPA XLT™ AND SERPA FLAT FILL™

Self-cleaning screen designs developed to reduce plugging and blinding while improving the separation of fines.

LONGSLOT AND OBLONG

Higher-open-area configurations that can improve production or help where conventional square openings are plugging.

HY PRO SLOT, H-WAVE™ AND V-1™

Specialized screen media for fine, wet, sticky or difficult-to-screen materials such as topsoil, sand, agricultural lime, mulch and recycled asphalt.

VENO™

A high-frequency self-cleaning design that uses woven wire bindings and can be used in applications where polyurethane bindings may not be suitable.

SCREEN ACCESSORIES

Tension rails, bucker-up rubber and other components needed to properly support and tension the screen media.

Not every design is right for every application. We will help narrow the options based on the material you are processing and the results you need from the deck.

LET’S LOOK AT THE COMPLETE APPLICATION

Changing screen media can sometimes improve production without requiring major changes to the plant. Before making a recommendation, we look at the complete application.

If possible, send us photographs of the existing screen, its measurements and information about the material you are processing. The more we know about the application, the better we can help.

  • Material type and moisture content
  • Feed size and desired finished product
  • Required opening size
  • Current wire diameter
  • Tonnage and deck load
  • Screen speed, stroke and direction of throw
  • Plugging, blinding or premature wear
  • Screen make, model and deck position
  • Panel dimensions and hook configuration

LOCAL SUPPORT FROM NOR’EAST EQUIPMENT

Selecting screen media based only on opening size can lead to missed production and shorter wear life.

Nor’East Equipment combines Hoyt’s engineered screen media with hands-on application experience. We help customers identify performance problems, compare available screen designs and order panels built for their equipment and operating conditions.

Our support does not end when the screen media is delivered. If production conditions change or the screen is not performing as expected, give us a call and we will help review the application.

READY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCREENING PERFORMANCE?

Whether you are replacing worn screens, dealing with plugging or looking for more production from your existing plant, Nor’East Equipment can help.

Helpful information

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Open a question below for more information.

WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO ORDER REPLACEMENT SCREEN MEDIA?
Start with the screen make and model, deck location, panel dimensions, opening size, wire diameter and hook configuration. Photographs of the existing panel and tension rails can also help us confirm the correct construction.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HI-RISE AND SERPA?
Hi-Rise uses shaped wire to increase open area, strength and wearing surface while maintaining a square opening. Serpa is a self-cleaning design intended primarily to reduce plugging and blinding. The best option depends on the material, moisture, deck load and sizing requirements.
CAN YOU HELP WITH SCREEN MEDIA FOR AN OLDER MACHINE?
Yes. In many cases, screen media can be produced from accurate measurements and hook information even when the original part number is unavailable. Contact us with the machine information and photographs of the existing screen.
CAN SCREEN MEDIA REALLY INCREASE PRODUCTION?
It can. Increasing usable open area and improving material stratification may allow more correctly sized material to pass through the deck. The potential improvement depends on the screen, material and operating conditions, which is why we recommend reviewing the complete application.
